I was told the same thing recently. I drove from Okeechobee, Florida to the Honda Hoot in Ashville, North Carolina just recently. When I purchased the bike, the dealer knew exactly what I planned to do with it (I just got it in May of this year, Honda Hoot was in June). I have now gone back to the dealer and he said that the bike shouldn't be rode for more than 60 miles at a time, and it wasn't really designed for "touring". My husband and I both ride, he rides a Honda Aero, and we never ride less than 50 miles at a time. Today, we actually spent the day looking for an Intruder 800, but we are actually upside down on the Savage, and cannot afford to trade it. I really like the bike, but I'm afraid I'm going to wear it out very quickly if I continue to ride it the way I do. I was lead to believe it would do just fine.
